“Study: Parents fitter than their kids.”
The ability to run is becoming less and less important. Of course the fitness gap is widening. This isn’t really a bad thing assuming that the next generation is able to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Agreed. If we are reaching an optimal level of physical and mental resources, then physical is becoming less important and mental is becoming more important over time.
As long as we don’t become brains in jars, I’m ok with it.
What if the intellectual/technology gains from humans being brains in jars was great?
“Wonkbook’s Quotation of the Day: “If we become a society of a handful of biotech engineers working for companies that are going to move jobs overseas and the rest of us are fighting for jobs stuffing pickles into jars, that’s not the kind of place you want to live,” said Damon Silvers, the AFL-CIO’s policy directors, recalling a Durham, N.C. presidential summit on jobs.”
Ezra Klein is unbelievable. I often wonder if he knows any economics at all. How can he call that the Quote of the Day? It is completely absent thought.
Right? Where do they find these knuckleheads? They are implying that we should restrict technological advancement and specialization to ensure that people have jobs! If this is appropriate then I have a solution. How about we ban all trucks and make goods be transported via person and only what they can hold. Then we can employ millions of people to transport goods back and forth! Unemployment problem solved!
Technological advancement and specialization increase everyone’s standard of living and free up human capital (people) to do what they do best: innovate.
Let’s ban cars, they put horse-and-buggy manufacturers out of business.
Lol, that’s the spirit!
“Plans in D.C. cover abortion, not hearing aids…”
Remember when the lefties swore that abortion wasn’t a part of ObamaCare?
Remember when most sensible people viewed it as unconscionable?
Nope, not really. I grew up in an era of moral relativism. Where killing is ok if it makes your life easier.
“30 to 40 percent of Healthcare.gov is still unfinished.”
I doubt it will be good even with these parts finished.
It will probably be worse.
