Some hospices decline to treat the dying.
Paper: 90,000 Nevada residents could lose health insurance due to ObamaCare…
Polio is spreading again.
72 percent of physicians say their peers order at least one unnecessary test per week.
U.S. is one of only eight countries where maternal deaths in childbirth rose, 2003-2013.

“Indeed, at 445 hospices, a third or more of patients died without having seen a skilled nurse in the 48 hours before their death”
This is precisely the problem, you can seldom find a skilled nurse at any health care facility these days.
“Economics may play a role in whether a hospice provides crisis care.”
Hospices will always react to incentives, the reimbursement from Medicare in regards to their costs could be a deciding factor as well. It is a shame however this is such an issue for hospices around the country.
Sounds fishy! Three-quarters of physicians report that 100% of physicians they know order unnecessary tests 2% of the time (every week) — especially when the mortgage is due.
Or when they are checking out a new vacation home…
“It’s like if there were no more safe-driver discounts with State Farm, everybody has the same rate, whether you have three DUIs, or you’re a (nondrinking) churchgoing Mormon.”
Do Mormons generally have lower insurance rates?
Under Obamacare, there are no “safe-driver discounts”. There are income-based discounts. Just like a person is incentivized to drive safely for the safe driver discount, people may move to work less and reduce their incomes to make their premiums cheaper.
As close as polio is to being eliminated from the world, steps need to be taken for complete elimination before it creeps back in to possibly infect more people.
“The continued rise in the United States may reflect “the performance of the health system as a whole,” and “poorer access to essential health care,” compared with other developed countries.”
I wonder if ACA will increase access to health care and lead to healthier pregnancies for both women and their newborns.
“Massachusetts is ditching its ObamaCare exchange, replacement to cost $100 million.”
Another one bites the dust.
All of the ObamaCare darlings are starting to fall apart.
First Oregon and now Massachusetts, who is next?
Everyone has a higher risk of losing personal insurance due to ObamaCare
For the fifth new, I am shocked by it.
Death is often messy. Dying patients often don’t just drift away in their sleep. The hospice can send a nurse every two weeks month-after-month but what patients really want is someone experienced in death to hold their hand (and the patient’s hand) in the final minutes prior to death. The family doesn’t know what to expect, and they can do nothing about the process (except call the nursing agency). Family members want the patient sedated so death doesn’t seem like such a struggle — even though it often is a struggle to remain alive.
