    Is the article on capital punishment saying that opponents want to make lethal injection unsafe to popularize it in the media so that citizens become frightened enough to abolish it altogether?

      Not exactly. It’s more saying that, as people who oppose the death penalty succeed in putting pressure on companies (mostly European ones) to stop producing lethal injection drugs, states that still use the death penalty are relying on largely untested cocktails of drugs. Sometimes, this has nasty results.

      Also relevant is the physicians’ professional organizations condemn doctor participation in the process, so the people administering the drugs probably lack biomedical training.

    I have a solution! Why not enroll condemned prisoners in Medicaid? They’d probably be dead before their death sentence is even carried out!

    Maybe — but I doubt if that many actually have to pay the tax. Most will get a hardship exemption.
