Three million people gained insurance last year — but not because of ObamaCare.
Warren Buffett: it’s time to scrap ObamaCare and start all over.
JCG’s blog rated fourth best health policy blog — ahead of Uwe Reinhardt’s NYT posts.
Health Wonk Review is up.
Pennsylvania to expand Medicaid, but only if it is allowed to privatize the system and add workfare.

“Sugar is actually a form of addiction. It’s just as hard to get rid of the urge for sweet foods as of smoking. Thereby diets only work temporarily. Addiction therapy is better.”
While I will agree that decreased sugar consumption must be a lifestyle and not a diet, the comparison to alcohol and tobacco is outrageous.
Total prevalence of diabetes
Total: 25.8 million children and adults in the United States—8.3% of the population—have diabetes.
Diagnosed: 18.8 million people
Undiagnosed: 7.0 million people
Prediabetes: 79 million people*
Then explain that? Diabetes can also lead to death. Just like lung cancer and alcohol related illnesses.
Shouldn’t we allow the public to make their own decisions on what is good or bad for them?
They are not making their decisions, the advertising agencies are pushing suggestions into the majority of the masses thoughts. The sheep are being culled by the wolves.
But is it not their own personal responsibility to be healthy and eat what they want?
Not when health care prices continue to go up, childhood obesity rates are skyrocketing, premature infant rate is actually INCREASING in some states. Coincidentally, there has been a noticeable trend that matches obesity. There are people slowly killing themselves with food, and everyone else is paying the price.
I too feel this way Lucas, something must be done.
Perfect example of sugar and calorie dangers-
And let us not forget the logical reasoning process of politicians and bureaucrats since time immemorial…
1) Something must be done
2) This is something
3) Therefore, this must be done
So, who is responsible?
“Pennsylvania to expand Medicaid, but only if it is allowed to privatize the system and add workfare.”
Privatizing is a good idea as long as they are careful not to make it a government/private partnership. Those can be more dangerous than just government.
“JCG’s blog rated fourth best health policy blog — ahead of Uwe Reinhardt’s NYT posts.”
Nice. Nothing wrong with a little healthy rivalry.
“Warren Buffett: it’s time to scrap ObamaCare and start all over.”
HSA’s? Warren Buffett would be an important supporter for swaying lefties and independents.
Buffett is only of value and significance to the left as long as he supports their preferred solutions, politicians, and policies. Statements like this will see him quickly relegated to the role of Capitalist Running Dog.
About 2 million were new Medicare enrollees. This is likely due to Baby Boomers reaching 65 and expanding disability rolls. Also, a combination of private coverage.
Buffett is correct. It’s also time to scrap the Death Tax and start over but Buffett does agree with that.
If people want to eat sugar, let them. I hear cake is a good source of it.
Ridiculous hyperbole like that is much more dangerous that sugar.
