I Am Not Engaged
With mainstream America that is. Here is my test result:
On a scale from 0 to 20 points, where 20 signifies full engagement with mainstream American culture and 0 signifies deep cultural isolation within the new upper class bubble, you scored between 0 and 4.
In other words, your bubble is so thick you may not even know you’re in one.
Charles Murray’s new book argues that America is coming apart. See our previous post here. You can find out if you are living in “an elitist bubble” by taking the same quiz. See Arnold Kling’s analysis of the quiz and David Henderson as well.

You’re out of touch, Goodman. But then so am I.
I scored between 13-16. I think I did pretty good.
There are other questions he could add to this, making it longer.
I scored a 9 but I cheated because I no longer have old ethical standards.
I scored 5 out of 20. One of the questions that I could answer yes on was an event that happened only one time (30 years ago) under extenuating circumstances.
That said, I have a hard time believing this quiz in its entirety actually represents mainstream America. Of course, some of the questions do, but the questions are so diverse that I cannot believe most people would be able to answer “yes” to more than a minority of them.
4/20. Very interesting, thanks for posting.
Full quiz/excerpt here – I think it’s a little more nuanced. Managed 12/20, most of which is attributed to growing up in a rural area.

7/20 – I would hardly have considered myself to be in an elitist bubble. Very interesting.
