I once forgot to remove my belt before receiving an MRI. Metal buckle. Very strange sensation. Luckily the flux was focused on my head.

Some other interesting articles:

Slate's game theory explanation of the health care bill: http://www.slate.com/id/2244161/

A Houston lawyer's take on the nanny state:
http://blog.kir.com/archives/2010/02/more_misdirecte.asp

I always think it's interesting when the "Eat This Not That" folks tell you not to eat the footlong sub and instead suggest a six inch. After all, by simply eating half of the unhealthy footlong, we could still cut our calorie intake by 50%. I don't know many people who eat a footlong sub for lunch, and if you assume you'll only be eating half of these sandwiches, the calorie differences start to seem less outrageous.
