Media sensationalism on either extreme is just bad for a society.
Right, and unfortunately mainstream media is mostly sensationalized nowadays. It’s all just pure entertainment with little substance.
I do not even find it entertaining Tim. It is a good thing we have the internet today as even newspapers are too slim and tendencious these days.
Ed Schultz’s notion that we are our brother’s keeper is being carried too far if by “brother’s keeper” we have to promote government policies that are socialist. Even with ObamaCare children of God will die (we all do at some point). The harm done to the medical market will also result in people dying. If I were tying to please God by backing policies that got people health care, I could think of better ways than ObamaCare.
“If Jesus came back it would be difficult to hear his message of love and tolerance over the screams of conservative Christians calling him a socialist.”
Jesus advocated voluntary giving of oneself, not forcing your neighbor. Therefore, Jesus was capitalist, not socialist.
Wow, just wow.
Which part confuses you? Capitalism doesn’t mean seeking money or selfishness, a closer synonym would be responsibility.
I think it more likely the screaming would be coming from the liberal side, objecting to His frequent references to “God” in the public arena – - as in “render to God what is God’s”.
Besides, I think you misunderstand Conservatives’ objections to socialism. Those objections come from the sordid history of socialism’s failure in human hands. If Jesus were ruling the world, conservatives would know it would be run right. Not nearly the same things.
“This is good for America and I won’t let them lie,” Schultz said. “They’re phony Christians. Phony Christians when they say that they are Christian, but then they want to take away from their next door neighbor. They don’t want to be their brother’s keeper.””
1) “This is good for America” is probably not true, but can’t exactly proved either way.
2) More importantly, equating “America” with the people in America is fallacious.
Wow, what a poorly thought out comment. What couldn’t be rationalized this way?
If we allow cars, people will die in wrecks.
If we allow TV, people will die of obesity.
If we allow invention, people will get hurt in experiments.
Ed seems to think that saving even one life is more important than the whole of humanities freedom.
Won’t anybody think of the children??????????
MSNBC is trying way too hard to trick Christians into watching. Nobody is fooled.
“It is very simple. If ObamaCare is not repealed, Americans will die. Children of God will die.”
For we are all mortal…
““I think you conservatives who purport to be Christians are on shaky moral ground when you want to take something away from someone who is on the verge of death,” Schultz said.”
If that thing was stolen from the original party then, no, that isn’t immoral.
It would be great if that person would freely give to someone on their deathbed…. you know, like Conservatives do much, much more often than Liberals.
I completely agree, JD! You cant’t steal and get mad when the person stolen from objects.
Yes Americans will die if ObamaCare is repealed. But not as soon.
