Poll after poll has shown strong support for universal coverage -- until the people surveyed discover the costs. It's akin to a fantasy -- everyone supports socialized medicine so long as it doesn't cost them anything and they don't have to give up what they already have.

I agree with John Graham. Except, I hope they wait until we get a new Congress before they start over again.

Less than one quarter of respondents cited "lack of universal coverage" as "the biggest problem", which is a very small proportion given the loaded nature of the question. Over half cited cost as the biggest problem. As we all know, this "reform" will increase costs.

The people understand this too: 8 of 10 respondents believe that the "reform" will cost more than advertised and will lead to increased middle-class taxes. 7 of ten believe it will increase the deficit.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see the full report, because I don't subscribe, but if the detailed questions Rasmussen used came from the New York Times description of the bill (as Rasmussen states), the questions must have been loaded in favor of reform.

The majority needs to throw out both the Senate and House bills and start again.

Am I correct in saying that every time a poll has been taken the results have gotten worse for Obama?

Rasmussen found that people were quite well informed about the plans. Contradicting the statements of Senate Democrats, they are well aware of what they are against.
