We will definitely see stuff like this in the US.

  2. steve says:

They said the same things when Medicare was implemented. Meh.

  3. Ken says:

Steve, the Medicare prediction may well come true if the federal government goes through with the planned cuts in spending.

  4. Linda Gorman says:

The differences between US Medicare and Canadian Medicare are large. Canada has global budgeting. Until ObamaCare, the law said that US Medicare patients had to be afforded the same kind of care as was available in the private sector.

ObamaCare does away with the private sector benchmark and paves the way for global budgeting by government. Get ready for the bus ads.

  5. Tom H. says:

Of course we are going to start seeing signs like this in the US. Lots of them.

  6. Paul H. says:

We may start seeing US ads for surgeries in Canada. Surprisingly, US patients can go to Canada, pay cash, and go to the head of the waiting lines. Canadian hospitals love this kind of business, because it adds to money to their already strained (global) budgets.

  7. Devon Herrick says:

I wish we would see more signs advertising medical services in the U.S. However, I want the signs to be advertising doctors and hospitals competing on price in an attempt to attract patients spending their own money.

In the U.S. health care advertising is rather limited. Hospital advertisements promote vague images of quality. The Scooter Store promises seniors a free power chair paid for my Medicare. Clinics that scam Workers’ Comp advertise by promising free care and a lawyer’s phone number.

The only medical advertising in the United States from providers competing on price is for corrective eye surgery, orthodontics and cosmetic surgery. These services are all paid for out of pocket.
